(She/Her/Hers)

Joy’s transformative experience with counseling after struggling with her mental health as a teenager inspired her to become a counselor. It is essential that her clients feel validated, safe, supported, and challenged.

Joy works with adult clients seeking counseling for mental health and/or substance use concerns. Her main focus is to help her clients identify life goals and the barriers that may impact their ability to accomplish them. She is passionate about assisting clients in recognizing their strengths and potential, altering their self-talk, and identifying tools and resources needed to cope with daily stressors. During sessions, she looks for patterns like what has and hasn’t worked in the past and how that information can help achieve current goals.

Joy is a self-proclaimed military brat and considers herself from everywhere and nowhere. She was born in Michigan, but her family retired in Virginia, and she has been here ever since. Her favorite places on the peninsula are Colonial Williamsburg, the Colonial Parkway, and Lion’s Gate bridge. She enjoys boxing/kickboxing, cross-stitching, and watching true crime documentaries. She has joint custody of a guinea pig named Stella Luna, who is treated like a princess, and a puppy brother named Opie.
